The Yoga of the Bhagavad Gita

7 Sundays—9  am – 4 pm with Jenifer Harbour

Feb. 12, March 12, Apr 16, May 21, June 18, July 16, Aug 13

This course aims to provide students with a unique opportunity to read and study the Bhagavad Gītā, or the “Song of the Lord.” Through monthly lectures, Q&A sessions, handouts, and asana classes, together we will immerse into the world of one of India and yoga’s most ancient, important, and misunderstood scriptures. The Bhagavad Gītā—or simply the Gītā, as it is affectionately known—is many things. At 700 verses, spread across 18 chapters, it is an “epic” poem, situated within the great Mahābhārata, one of India’s and the world’s longest stories ever told; it is an ancient Indian treatise adjudicating the ethics of battle and war; an excursus on proper conduct (karma) and one’s moral and social duty (dharma) within the cosmic order. It is also a treatise on philosophy, an inquiry that seeks to determine what is righteous and good.

Tuition—$450
